A parenting coordinator is a third party who will be a neutral decision maker. A parenting coordinator is helpful when the parties have a difficult time co-parenting and making major decisions when it comes to their children. A parenting coordinator will listen to each parent’s view and research on a particular issue, and they will make a decision in line with one of the parent’s views.
A parenting coordinator will be used when the parents have joint legal custody and there is an impasse as to a major decision. This neutral third party will make the decision for them. It is good to know that the parenting coordinator costs money but can be a useful resource if needed.
